Help save Curtis Coleman’s life!
i just found out that a beautiful person i recently met is dying & he needs our help. i am feeling so many things right now. i met Curtis Coleman at our last beach burn in Santa Cruz & he was truly one of the highlights of my weekend: in the late afternoon on sunday, Curtis came up to me & asked if i was leaving soon. i told him yes & he said he wanted to gift me something in return for my spinning, because my music had really spoken to him. he told me, don’t move! a minute later he comes back with a guitar & he drags me off to a picnic table, well away from the amplified sound & he proceeds to play and sing me two incredible songs. the lyrics, his voice, the sound coming from his instrument, it all made the hair on my arms stand straight up. by the time he was done, i was nearly crying. i asked him how much of his life involves music. he told me he’s been lucky, because he travels around the country all year long & does these performances for kids. so he can teach them how to trust their own voices. wow. amazing: so he can teach them how to trust their own voices. can i get a collective: “thank you, Curtis. thank you for working so hard to ensure us all a future.” i told him thank you. and i told him if he ever needed anything i could help him with, just say the word. and now, only two weeks later, has definately come the time: Curtis Coleman is fighting an aggressive cancer in his throat called squamous cell carcinoma. Soon he will have neck dissection surgery, plus aggressive radiation & chemo. On paper his chances of survival are less than 1 in 4, but cancer victims facing far worse odds have been miraculously cured when enough people came together to make it happen. Curtis has no insurance, and the most promising medical treatments aren’t covered by the county’s last resort coverage. If everyone that sees this contributes at least $10 or more if you can, we’ll be on our way to giving Curtis the best chance possible at life.
