i first saw Carnen at RWB. it must have been the Fall–not last Fall, but the Fall before. i found her very intriguing: her movements, her long hair: she looks like she floats just a bit above the ground. otherworldy, almost. when Carnen and Todd renewed their vows at Burning Man last year, Hank and i were instantly smitten with them. the ceremony was so incredibly beautiful, it simply knocked the air out of me. it was only a day or so later when Carnen showed up at the pink flamingo lounge for some bass and breaks, so we played our hearts out for her :-) at one point she said she thought of me when she put on her purple corset before the ceremony, which made me smile. i believe ember had given me some candy, which apprently was not candy at all, and instead made me feel very fuzzy. Carnen and i talked until sunrise: me with my head in her lap, Lucho on the decks, and an altogether wonderful and memorable burning man experience.

what to say about a person who has touched me so deeply, and who understands me on such fundamental levels? how can i even begin to describe someone who continues to give me so much compassion, love, and understanding? Luis, i love you more than i could ever say with these word-things, but i will say this: you are undoubtedly one of the most incredible gifts this world has ever given me, and each day i wake up i wake up feeling so damn lucky that you are my friend. you are my sanity, my good times, my sad times, my intellectual challenge. thank you for accepting me so completely, for your honesty, your loyalty. for everything that you are. thank you for continuing to bring me home.
