i just finished building a site for my friend DJ Gabriel Alexander. because he rocks & he deserves it. Gabe had me play at a few of his events recently–most notably the Witches’ Brew @ Zebulon, and the Sirens and Muses @ the Mezzanine* events. I’ve watched him throw some great parties, and he just works very hard to provide a positive and creative environment for other people. and he does so ALL the time. if everyone could give back to the community and to each other the way Gabe does, the world would definately be a better place. but we’ve got to start somewhere & i definately want to contribute my piece. bit by bit. no matter how big or small. < — wipes tear from eye. <– steps off soap box lets PARTY! Also, Gabe has suggested that “we should write some children’s stories together, take over the world ala Harry Potter and then with our millions of dollars buy Ibiza……..” Stay tuned! sam *by the way, i meant to add a small entry about the Mezzanine right after i played there. um, yes, i’d like to live there, please. the sound system is incredible. and that is an understatement.

Our dear friend Pasha has been hospitalized in a trauma center in Odessa, Texas, where he was brought some time Tuesday, after being found lying beside his car in a place called Iraan, Texas. He was enroute from Houston to Tucson. Nobody knows what happened. He has a closed head injury, badly broken hip and femur, and other damage. And he is unconscious. if you want to read more about Pasha’s progress, there’s currently a website that’s being updated by his parents and some friends. you may leave messages, words of encouragement & strength: HERE i first met Pasha when Aaron and i lived together on College Avenue in Berkeley. Some seven years ago. And of course, i loved him from the moment i met him. i remember this huge boat of a car he was driving at the time & how loud it was & how he’d park it on our front lawn & how ridiculous it looked there, but what a joy it was to know it was parked there, because it meant that Pasha was visiting. The last time i spoke with Pasha was a few months ago. He and Aaron were chatting online and they had video cams set up. When i walked into Aaron’s room, he said, Guess who i’m talking to, Sam? and he pointed at the screen & it was Pasha! i must have waved at him for 5 minutes uninterrupted. And he waved back & he was Pasha & he gestured a long arm’s gesture through the space around him & said: this is my new place. How do you like it? Despite the fact that Pasha and i don’t spend time together on a very regular basis, over the past seven years he has always been a constant in my life–and that is one of joy and smiles and fun & laughter & great hugs. When Josh told me what had happened, the world suddenly became very static & still & clouded with disbelief. He is in my thoughts every day. As are Pasha’s parents & all of you whose lives he has touched. i’m going to record a new CD this week, which i will dedicate to him. my thoughts enfold you all. be strong. much love sam may he spin fire again soon.
