au revoir, belfunk…

this past weekend it dawned on me that i’m done with Belfunk. yup, i’ve had my time with it. and i never thought it would come to this point. but i finally said goodbye to one of my favorite tracks of all time. it had been a Sam-staple for many years–almost as long as i’ve been spinning records. almost every CD i’ve recorded, every set i’ve played, has included my favorite Sasha track & i finally parted with it. sound a bit dramatic? perhaps. but the point is, i feel like my sound has come to a new level & when i look back at the years it has taken me to get to this point, i can honestly say that they are defined by that track. it was strange to grab it the other night & not feel the need to spin it. i can say so much more about it. like how i think that Sasha’s double X-Pander EP is one of the best things to have ever happened to electronic music. and how i think that his new album absolutely pales in comparison to those four tracks. and how i find it odd that so few people still remembered that oevre of his, in looking forward to his long-awaited EP (that Airdrawn Dagger business….) thank you, Sasha, for bringing us the X-Pander, for bringing us Belfunk, and for giving me the track that has brought me this far along in my enjoyment of music. i look forward to being able to listen to it more frequently now. :-) sam

Texas: Here I Come!

Remember an earlier post about my production Dream Team in Texas? Thanks to the heroic efforts by Cody & Dave of the Carbon Community, I will be flying out to Dallas in September and I will be playing a gig with them as well as Son of the Electric Ghost! I’m so F@*&ing excited, I can hardly stand it! I’ve just been wanting to see each of these live acts perform, because I love their music & spin their tracks all the time. Geting the opportunity to play with them & hang out with them…… < –huge ass grin Thank you Cody and Dave, and Blake from Spincycle Productions! looking forward to September. pocketful of smiles sam
