Burning Man 2004

i had a wonderful and introspective time.
got a solid 7-8 hours of sleep every night (i’m serious!)
i wanted to find the phonebooth from which you could make actual phonecalls. never found the damn phone. but then again, i didn’t look for it very hard.

i had the best bloody maries i have ever tasted in my life. they were divine; i can still taste them.

it was a very introspective time for me. i spent the majority of it by myself. spent hours and hours riding around on the playa, looking at art & the desert. thinking about my life. you know, how i used to do when i was young and contemplative ;-) i didn’t party at all. just had a few drinks. got more sleep than i could have hoped for. i rode my bike for miles and miles and miles. fuck, did i get a lot of excercise. i feel strong!

i missed paul a lot. it didn’t feel right to be out there,
at burning man, in the desert, riding my bike around,
looking at art, experiencing that part of life.
without him.
so it was both good and bad.
it was bad, because i missed him terribly
& it made me emotional
& so i exhausted myself until i passed out.
but, most importantly, good,
because out there, in the middle of nowhere, by myself,
the only thing i could think about was paul.

i played on the biggest soundsystem on the playa & people went nuts. they absolutely went nuts. it was one of the most fun sets i have ever played. someone gave me a pair of earrings. they were bottlecaps with pictures on the inside: one was of the pope, and the other of Marilyn Manson. i love DJing.

Trevor gave me a ride; he is a friend of Henry’s & he’s totally awesome. we’d never met but, luckily, we got along famously, rocked out to hard breaks & shared lots of fun stories.

many many thank you’s to so many people, but especially:
Kurian … for the bass
Dragi … for the playa
Andrea … for the night time
Peter … for the breakbeat
Aaron … for knowing when to find me
Trevor … for new old friendship
George … for smiles
Smoove … for hugs
Miss Kitty … for dancing, always
DJ Wonder Bred … for the old skool
Satsi … for listening

thank you g-spot, for a wonderful camping experience; Lush Camp, for the amazing time on the decks;
Paradox, for Nada & Tamo & a fantastic happy hour.

there’s a bunch more that goes somewhere in between, but i think it will start to make me cry.
not because i left out any specifics that would specifically make me cry,
but because it’s always a little bit hard to come back from burning man.
